
This article is derived from the research project Fat women are only loved by their mothers. Fatphobia as gender violence: Discipline, control and resistance to women's bodies, to qualify for the Master's degree in Education and Human Rights. The work arises from the interest in revealing fatphobia as a type of gender-based violence that operates in a particular way on women's bodies; for this purpose, an analysis was carried out of the approaches of Fat activists such us Laura Contrera, Magdalena Pyneiro, and the also fat activist Nicolás Cuello, who open debates that have as center the personal experience of inhabiting a body crossed by the breaking of the norm of thinness, as well as the author, through a photo biography exercise. The text allows us to point out the institutions that influence the different stages of development, to generate in women the fear of the word fat, the pressure to take actions to hide or make fatness disappear and the privilege of the fat male body over the fat female body, giving rise to approaches that allow us to reveal the control device based on the fat-thin tension.
